Tattoo Machines – Know Your Choices

A tattoo machine is basically a hand-held unit typically used to produce a tattoo, usually a permanent mark of your skin with indelible pigment. Modern tattoo machines utilize electromagnetic coils to move up and down the tattoo armature. Connected to this armature is an armillary needle grouping which pushes tattoo ink up into the skin. The tattoo machine supplies are tattoo equipment that go all the way from tattoo machine kit to tattoo equipment.

Inking gun tattoo machines are used to apply tattooing inks by applying continuous, uniform pressure to a tattooing needle. There are many types of tattoo machines and the style of needle and inks being used depend on the tattoo machine being used. Ball tattoo machines, needleless tattoo machines, rotary tattoo machines, vacuum tattoo equipment, and tattoo guns all produce tattooing results. All tattoo equipment has basic components including: tattoo drum, tattoo reservoir, tattoo needles, tattoo ink drum, tattoo machine motor and tattoo machine housing.

A tattoo machine works with basic principles of mechanics. A tattoo cartridge starts by inflating a reservoir (usually called the tattoo machine tank) with tattoo ink (black inks). The tattoo machine injects the ink into a tattooing needle. The tattoo needle is attached to the drum of tattoo machine by a tattoo machine spring. The tattoo machine motor generates energy, which pumps the ink up the drum and through the tattoo machine needle.

Modern tattoo machine technology is highly developed and produced very efficiently. There are four basic types of tattoo machine technology: Single pass tattoo machine, two pass tattoo machine, three pass tattoo machine, and four-pass tattoo machine. Each tattoo machine type has its own advantages and disadvantages. A tattoo machine’s primary advantage over other tattoo machine types is speed. As the name implies, the single pass tattoo machine provides single tattoo drawings while the two, three and four pass tattoo machine types provide tattooing with various levels of depth and shading.

Another tattoo machine type is the “ink stamp” machine which uses an acid or fountain to transfer an image or design from a special sheet of plastic to your skin. Ink stamp tattoo machine usually operates using special inks that contain colored minerals that are dissolved in an acid solution. The tattoo machine uses the principle of electrochemical charging to generate the ink that is transferred to your skin. The colors produced by this method are usually fluorescent and are normally translucent or milky. These tattoos generally used dark colors for black and red skin; lighter colors for white skin and creamier colors for blue or green skin.

Needleless tattoo machine produces tattoo needles free of any residue. The tattoo needles used in this tattoo machine type are thin and hollow so that the tattoo needle can be inserted deep into the skin without creating any lumps or bumps. Needleless tattoo needles are generally used for temporary tattoos and are not advisable for tattooing on the face, where bacteria might be present. These needles can also leave unpleasant scars after tattooing.

The rotary tattoo machine, as the name suggests, creates tattoo images by turning a continuous spiral around a fixed drum, called the “vane,” which contains tattoo ink. Rotary tattoo machines can be used for detailed images, or even for simple images like a heart. This type of tattoo machine is the most suitable for beginners, since the process of turning the spiral around the drum is easy and doesn’t require too much skill from the tattoo artist. However, this tattoo machine type is not advisable for those who want their tattoo to be seen clearly. Some artists prefer rotating needles because they produce a finer image and create smoother images with fewer steps.

Electric tattoo machines are a newer kind of tattoo machine. They are becoming more popular among tattoo artists who use these machines to create intricate tattoo images, especially those who perform zodiac tattoo designs. In contrast to rotary tattoo machines, electric tattoo machines allow tattoo artists to adjust the speed at which the electric needle moves across the drum, depending on the complexity of the design being tattooed. The tattoo artists also have the option to use a damp cloth to transfer the tattoo directly to the client’s skin. However, tattoo artists can only use a single tattoo machine at a time, and these tattoo machines require an electrical outlet.
